Making Changes

Objectives

In this unit, students will observe and describe objects. They will investigate to determine if the addition of heat or cold causes changes to the object. Students will:

  • recognize change.

  • identify physical properties of an object.

  • record changes that occur when heat or cold is added to objects.

  • understand that when heat or cold is added to an object, change may be observable.

Essential Questions

How are relationships represented mathematically?
How can mathematics support effective communication?
How can recognizing repetition or regularity assist in solving problems more efficiently?
How is mathematics used to quantify, compare, represent, and model numbers?
